Gaelscoil an Chaistil hold school prizegiving
A large number of parents, family and friends came along to the outdoor prizegiving event to celebrate the children’s sporting, academic and personal successes. Brídín Ní Dhonnghaile, principal, along with her staff, presented an array of cups and certificates.
The awards ceremony began with prizes from sports day. Individual teachers invited the winners from their classes to receive their medals from Brídín. This section of the ceremony concluded with the presentation of two school sports awards.

Brídín then presented two special principal awards – Avid Reader and Citizenship. The school places great emphasis on a love of reading and of literature and that of playing an active role in school life.

Hide AdFor the past few years the school has taken part in the Gaelic language Scríobh Leabhar – Write a Book competition. This year winners included Bebhionn, Katie, Conleth, Kaci Lee, Kirsten and Séamas Seosamh from P3; Enya, Flynn, Yaran and Caoimhe from P4; Cailín, Déaglán, Emma and Caitríona from P5; and Áine and Máire Áine from P6,7. Congratulations to them all.
Brídín warmly congratulated Cabhán Ó Conchúir Mac Pháidín, Connie Ní Niadh, Bebhionn Ní Chonchúir and Oisín Mac Seáin on their excellent attendance as she presented 100% attendance certificates to them.
The principal praised the P7 children for all their hard work throughout the year, presented them with their Records of Achievement and wished them every success as they transfer to post primary education.
She then thanked the staff, governors and parents for their dedication to the school and thanked pupils for all their hard work. She discussed the continued growth of the school and announced that there would be statutory full-time nursery unit on site from September 2012 and that enrolment for places was now open.
