50 years of memories at St Patrick’s Aghacommon
While the school is over 100 years old this particular celebration marks 50 years in the current location.
In the past half century there have been three principals at St Patrick’s: Mr Peter Murray, Mr Barry Fagan and the current incumbent Mrs Annette McWilliams.

Hide AdThe longest serving teacher currently at the school is Mrs Kathleen McGuckin.
The school’s numbers have increased steadily over the years since the amalgamation of Aghacommon Boys and Girls schools with St Patrick’s now boasting over 240 pupils.
Over the years the school has enjoyed notable successes both academically, musically, and on the sports field
Next Wednesday the school will be holding an open night where visitors can come in, look around and reminisce about their time at St Patrick’s from 6.30pm to 7.30pm.

Hide AdTea and coffee will be available until 7.45pm when a special show will take place entitled ‘A Taste Of Talent at Aghacommon featuring pupils past and present. It’s a ticket only event with tickets available from the school office.
On Thursday at 7.30pm the school will play host to a talk by Francis Xavier McCorry on Aghagallon and Kilvergan over the past 100 years.
Finally, on Friday at 11am St Patrick’s Church in Aghacommon is the venue for a 50th anniversary mass.
Everyone is welcome to the celebration events which take place over three days next week.
As well as the anniversary events there will be lots of surprises in store for the pupils.
