Carrickfergus Castle under siege again
History came alive in the grounds of the historic castle on Wednesday afternoon.
Organised by Mid and East Antrim Borough Council, the event featured living history encampments and re-enactment at Castle Green.

Hide AdVisitors came face to face with troops and witnessed the castle under siege followed by a parade to meet King William.
The Siege of Carrickfergus took place in 1689 when a force of Williamite troops under Marshal Schomberg landed and laid siege to the Jacobite garrison. Carrick is also the place where Schomberg’s leader, King William III first set foot in Ireland in 1690.
