Chip shop to provide Christmas dinner for residents
The Captains Table in Glengormley will be opening it’s doors on December 25 to provide Christmas dinner for elderly residents, as well as members of the community who may be spending the day alone.
The Carnmoney Road eatery can accommodate up to 60 people, with owner, Hilary Braniff hoping as many people as possible can come and share the meal with her family.

“The idea came about when I started thinking about a few of our customers who would be alone on Christmas Day and I was going to ask them to come and share dinner with my family at ours. I then thought that seeing as we had the space at the restaurant, we should provide Christmas dinner for a lot more people.”
Hilary continued: “Since we decided to provide the dinner, we’ve been overwhelmed by the generosity of people who have offered to help out, either in the Captains Table or providing lifts for people coming to share the dinner.
“We’ve also received generous donations of money, as well as drinks and goodies for the day.”
