Fines imposed for drug offences

Twenty-three-year-old David Derby from Upper Golf Terrace, admitted possessing cocaine, mephedrone and cannabis on September 18 last.
Gemma Workman, also 23, from Shore Road, Ballyronan, was fined £150 with a £15 offender levy, for possessing diazepam on the same date.

Hide AdThe court heard the offences came to light while police were carrying out a search of a property at Upper Golf Terrace and when a vehicle arrived and a male got out and went behind the house, which was later searched and drugs uncovered.
Defence solicitor Stephen Atherton asked the court to give the defendants maximum credit for the way they had dealt with the matter and accepted responsibility.
Mr Atherton described the offences as being “at the lower end of the scale” and that it was the first time in court for both of the defendants.
