Derry GAA star McCloy thanks paramedics and doctors for ‘saving his life’
In a statement on the Lavey GAA website from Kevin and his wife Cathy, they thanked everyone for their messages of support and paid tribute to the quick thinking of the doctors and paramedics who saved his life,
The 35-year-old was playing for Lavey GAC against Magherafelt at Owenbeg when he fell ill.

Hide AdParamedics and an ambulance on site treated McCloy on the pitch around ten minutes into the game before he was transferred to Altnagalvin hospital where he spent time in Intensive Care.
The statement read: “Kevin and Cathy would like to thank all the physio’s, doctors and paramedics for their quick thinking and life saving efforts at the scene. It was these actions along with the defibrillator that ultimately saved Kevin’s life.
“We would also like to thank everyone for their prayers and support over the last week. Kevin’s condition is improving thanks to the excellent care he is receiving at Altnagelvin Hospital.
“We would ask that everyone would support the Cormac Trust at Thursday’s match, in whatever way they can.
Lastly, good luck to the boys on Thursday night.”
