Digital purchases protected this Christmas
Philippa McKeown-Brown, Head of Consumer Skills at the Consumer Council explains “The extension of consumer rights to digital content earlier this year is welcome news for consumers, particularly at this time given that many of us will be purchasing digital content either as Christmas gifts or to entertain ourselves over the festive period.Any digital content you buy must be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. In instances where the digital content doesn’t work or devices are damaged in some way as a result of downloading or streaming items, you may be entitled to a repair or replacement.”
Philippa concluded “If a repair or replacement is not possible, or not carried out within a reasonable time, you may be entitled to a reduction in price.”
