Huhtamaki help kids with heart disease

Local children living with heart disease are to benefit from new medical equipment thanks to a Lurgan firm.

Global packaging giant Huhtamaki are behind the scheme by hooking up to a unique recycling initiative with Bryson Recycling.

Huhtamaki employ 226 staff locally and are involved in the yearlong ‘Recycling Rewards’ campaign alongside Encirc and Cherry Pipes, all of whom have pledged to donate £1 to charity for every tonne of paper, glass and plastic collected materials through Bryson’s kerbside box collection service which is delivered to 170,000 households across NI on a weekly basis.

The project aims to boost recycling rates and help a worthwhile cause- Children’s Heartbeat Trust.

Eric Randall, Director at Bryson Recycling, which is part of Bryson Charitable Group, said; “The Recycling Rewards have certainly stuck a chord with homeowners and businesses across the province and Huhtamaki’s donation will go a long way in helping children with heart conditions. There is still time to get involved and we are aiming to recycle at least 10,000 tonnes of materials for the charity by this November.”

“This campaign has also been instrumental in supporting the local economy, sustaining jobs and promoting increased levels of recycling across five council areas.”

Jeff Kearon, Logistics Manager at Huhtamaki said; “This campaign enables us to reprocess high quality paper as well as offer support to Children’s Heartbeat Trust. We are delighted to be able to donate £4,300 in just over five months to help the charity continue its good work. We would urge householders who have Bryson kerbside boxes to recycle as much as they can in the coming months – the more they recycle, the more we will give to this very worthwhile cause”.
