Kids '˜denied a green field'
The claim came at a public meeting last Wednesday night. The resident was speaking as the community discussed plans for the future uses of the Dunluce Centre and Waterworld, he said: “Our children are being denied a green field. We haven’t even got a community centre here in the town,” he said.
The meeting, in Portrush Town Hall, was set up following comments by concerned residents on social media sites.

Hide AdConcerns were also raised that the elderly in the community were being overlooked, and that the town was too focused on tourism: “We need facilities for all ages of our community across 52 weeks of the year,” said one resident.
Another resident added: “This area is crying out for a sports facility, we were promised a skate park twenty years ago, we need a strategy to develop for the way forward.”
A group has now been established, ‘Portrush Matters’ to make a representation to Counci and MLA’s regarding the future of Portrush.
