Lodge hosts a colourful history lesson on culture with Fountain youths
The young people who attended began the first of the workshops with a history lesson on the Lodge, including the fact that it was formed in a house in The Fountain.
Commenting on the workshops, Victor Wray, seated right, who is the PRO for the City of Londonderry Grand Orange Lodge, said: “There will be five workshops in total. The next three will be focusing on encouraging the young people to draw and work with an artist to create their own banners, and ultimately what we hope will happen is that the members of LOL1912 will be able to use the children’s designs to create a small banner for themselves in the youth club. We would love it if some of the ideas find their way into the new banner that we are currently having produced for the Lodge which we will be using for future events and parades.”
The final workshop will be a visit to Dan Winter’s Cottage, where the Orange Institution began in 1795, and to Armagh Museum. (Photo: INLS 0524-501MT)
