Marathon effort for Cancer Research UK
So when work colleagues and management at his place of employment decided to take part in the Belfast Marathon for charity, he was the first to ‘sign up’.
When the day arrived – May Day Bank Holiday – Johnny teamed up with four other work colleagues at McCauley Trailers Ltd, Toomebridge, for the gruelling event and even though they took turns, it was still a daunting task.

Hide AdJohnny and the four others – Donagh Kelly, Production Supervisor, Mairead Graham, office manager, Catherine Mallon, Sales and Marketing and William Wallace, Purchasing, completed the task and raised a four-figure sum for Cancer Research UK.
The cheque for £1921 was presented at Ballymoney Rugby club to local committee members of Cancer Research, Mervyn Ferris, Dorothy Hill and Debbie Tutty.
The sponsorship came from co-workers, suppliers. Mr Ferris thanked Johnny and his colleagues for their effort and for chosing Cancer Research as the nominated charity.
Johnny, well-known in rugby club circles in the town, revealed that the company plan another charity fund-raiser next year – perhaps a challenge at Slieve Donard.
