McShane concern over Lammas Fair parking tickets

MOYLE Sinn Féin councillor, Cara McShane, has slammed the issuing of parking tickets in areas of Ballycastle during the Lammas Fair and encouraged motorists who felt unfairly penalised to contact Roads Service Parking Enforcement section to appeal their Penalty Charge Notice.

Cllr Cara McShane said: “I have received many complaints from people who were issued with parking tickets over the two days of the Lammas Fair. I witnessed for myself areas within the town which were not clearly marked out as restricted parking areas.

“One area in which the majority of Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) were issued was on Strandview Road. There is a bend on this stretch of road and I witnessed for myself just two police cones at the top end of the road at the junction onto Rathlin Road. For visitors coming into Ballycastle however from North Street, entering onto Strandview Road, would not have known the road was restricted parking.
