No to 40mph speed limit signs
The news was revealed during a recent Ballymoney Full Council meeting after a letter had been received from Roads Service.
The letter from Deidre Mackle, Acting Divisional Roads Manager explained: “When Mr John McKinley and Mr Uel Wilson met with Council, I undertook to investigate further a number of roads issues raised.

Hide Ad“Regarding Garryduff Road at Garryduff Presbyterian Church and the request for 40mph speed limit. This is a rural part of the road and is not considered appropriate for a speed limit.
“Speed limits that apply at all times are not used near rural schools due to the fact that schools only operate for short periods of the day - not a weekend nor during school holidays.
“A speed limit would therefore be unnecessary restrictive for most of the time. The level of development is also insufficient to warrant a speed limit. School warning signage was upgraded some years ago at Garryduff Primary School.”
