£50,000 boost for Ballymacward area
The Rock Community Association (RCA) secured the funding for a new multi use games and communal area as well as car parking facility.
Provided by the Alpha Programme, which recycles tax credits from the Mullaghglass Landfill Site, the funding will help create the facility near Ballymacward Community Centre.

Hide AdRaymond Jordan, Chairman of Rock Community Association said, “We are delighted to secure this funding from the Alpha Programme towards the improvement of this piece of waste ground.
“We will use the funding to create a small multi use games area, communal events area and car parking facilities.
“Our thanks go to everybody who has supported this project and of course the Alpha Programme for supporting it financially.”
Gary Flaherty, Landfill Manager at the Mullaghglass Landfill Site, said, “We are delighted the Rock Community Association has secured this funding from the Alpha Programme for their community amenity.

Mayor of Lisburn, Councillor Margaret Tolerton commented, “It is great news that this local community group has been successful in securing funding for a new community space.
“The importance of people coming together within a community is significant whether it be at a sporting event or cultural event. I wish Rock Community Association every success with its new project that will facilitate the local community coming together on a regular basis.”

Hide AdThe Alpha Programme is managed by Groundwork NI and has already provided just under £1.6m in funding to 55 biodiversity and community based projects within ten miles of the Mullaghglass landfill site.
