Strike looming
It was understood that the dispute between them and the management concerned proposed operation of a three shift working system at the factory.
The strikers had a meeting that afternoon at the local Transport and General Workers’ Union office and met Mr William Hughes, a union representative from Belfast.

Hide AdAccording to a statement issued after the meeting, Mr Hughes was to try to arrange a meeting between management and the union and the conciliation department of the Ministry of Health and Social Services.
An official of Pall Ulster declined to comment on the situation.
