The importance of being visible
The focus of the visits was on road safety and the importance of young people being visible when out and about during dark winter mornings and evenings.
Awareness of road safety issues is heightened amongst pupils and teachers with eight deaths, three of which were pedestrians, so far this year on Northern Ireland’s roads prompting police to describe the situation as a road safety emergency.

Hide AdRoads policing officer, Constable Syd Henry gave the pupils a short talk on the dangers of not being visible when out walking or cycling on the roads.
Moyle Neighbourhood Sergeant Lorraine Connor was on hand to help answered more general questions, including how young people can contact police if they ever needed to.
Pupils were also each given a fluorescent rucksack cover for their schoolbag, with around 250 distributed.
