Watch: Trust tackles global obesity epidemic in Londonderry
Gillian Browne, Western Trust Obesity Specialist Dietician said: “Obesity is a great public health issue and it is important that during National Obesity Awareness Week that we address this health issue and do our best to prevent it. Unfortunately there is no magic wand for tackling obesity and therefore it is imperative that communities come together to consider what steps they can take to promote their health and wellbeing by maintaining a healthy weight.”
Lesley Finlay, Western Trust Health Improvement Officer said: “Events were held in Altnagelvin, South West Acute Hospital and the Tyrone County Hospital during National Obesity Awareness Week to encourage staff to consider the health impact of any extra weight they may be carrying.

Hide Ad“We organised a walking club for lunch times and dieticians to come along to take waist measurements and Body Mass Index and offer advice about nutrition.
“We hope that the public will be inspired by these events and join our National New Year’s Resolution to Choose to Live Better!”
