Vandalism ‘ongoing issue’ at public park
It is the latest in a series of incidents at the popular public space, which has previously been identified by police as an anti-social behaviour ‘hotspot’.
In September 2013, thousands of pounds worth of damage was caused to the galleon ship in the play park area.

Hide AdPortable toilets were also destroyed in an arson attack in November of the same year.
Stephen Daye, Parks and Countryside officer with Carrickfergus Borough Council, said: “The toilets in the clock tower building have had to be closed periodically due to vandalism; unfortunately it’s been an ongoing issue at Marine Gardens and there has been general misuse of them with doors having to be replaced, toilet rolls holders ripped off the walls and so on.
“The vast majority of people who visit enjoy the facilities but there are a small section who do not treat them with respect.”
