Video: Audience warms to protest song
Following all the formalities and political posturing, the evening finished on high note - a rendition of campaign song ‘Flames’, written and performed by local singer-songwriter Scott Macaulay.
Despite the chilly conditions inside the Academy Club sports hall, the audience warmed to the Mallusk teenager, who penned the song in protest against arc21’s plan to build a massive waste incinerator at Hightown Quarry.

Hide AdIt was well received by local residents and political representatives, who seemed to be in total agreement with the sentiment of the song.
Scott (16), a pupil at Belfast Royal Academy, recently performed in the Northern Ireland final of the Big Music Project Competition.
