Whiteabbey Action Cancer group marks 40 year anniversary
The group, which is the oldest in Northern Ireland, was initially established in 1975 when the families of two cancer patients met Action Cancer founder Dr Edelstyn during the course of their treatment.
These two families and their friends from the Whiteabbey area established a Committee and held their first Group meeting on March 24 1975.

Since then the group has raised over £250,000 for Action Cancer through events such as collections, carol singing, fashion shows and craft fairs.
Chairperson of Whiteabbey Action Cancer Group Lawrence Fisher commented: “I’d like to acknowledge the incredible commitment and dedication of all the members of the Group and supporters over the last 40 years.”
The Action Cancer Group is made up of local people who volunteer to organise events and collections, and to raise the profile of the charity and its services.
