BRA too strong for Grammar
From the first whistle, the visitors were on the back foot but they met the challenging attacks of the imposing Academy pack, with robust some tackles. Eventually the Carrick’s defensive line was broken down by a powerful and commanding run from Daniel Dass who ran in for a superb individual try on 15 minutes. Carrick heads began to drop and BRA took advantage with a quick-fire second try.
The Grammar lads managed to pick themselves up with hard running from forwards Rhys McConnell, Michael Smylie and Adam Urquhart. They forced BRA into conceding two penalties which were successfully converted by Kealan Gilpin to leave the score at 12-6 at the interval.
