Ladies take it to maximum

BALLYMENA Ladies were hoping to build on their fine win on their travels last week and they did not disappoint, with a comprehensive 83-41 victory over Coleraine at the Old Ballymoney Road green last week.

Jean Rainey, Kathleen Hoey, Pat Allen and Jennifer Dowds made a confident start against F Arlow on rink 1 when they opened up a 5 shot lead after 3 ends.

The visitors then stunned the Ballymena ladies on the next end when they collected a count of 6 shots, however this was the one and only time that the Coleraine ladies were in front as the Braid ladies won most of the remaining ends to record a 16-12 victory.

The match on rink 2 saw Jennie McCready, Marie Houston, Iris Millar and Barbara Cameron take on the Coleraine rink skipped by L Evans.

The first 7 ends were close with the Ballymena ladies holding a slender 2 shot advantage but the remainder of the game belonged to the home rink.

Of the 11 ends left the visitors were restricted to only 3 single shots while the Braid ladies racked up a further 22 shots to claim an excellent victory by 27 shots to 6.

It was a bit of a one sided affair on rink 3 where Linda McCullough, Peggy Pinkerton, Erin Smith and Sarah Jane Coleman were drawn against M McColgan. The Ballymena ladies put on a dominant performance winning 14 of the 18 ends to record a fine 23-6 win.
