Narrow loss for Rainey in Belfast
The Rainey team was unfortunately missing a few players but those who stepped up played to the best of their ability. Owls in the first five minutes were awarded a short corner, which they successfully converted to a goal.
Rainey fought hard the next five minutes and then the Owls intercepted a hit out from which they scored again. The Rainey girls where now down 2-0 with twelve minutes gone.

Hide AdFor the rest of the first half the girls fought hard to get a goal with shots from Rachel Clarke and Zara Bell. The Rainey girls started the second half on fire. They continually put pressure on the Owls defence but could not find a way through.
Rainey then got a break through Megan Mullholland who struck a deflected ball into the net, Rainey thought this was the turning point but unfortunately the goal was disallowed. Rainey just couldn’t find a way through the Owls defence so the Rainey girls had to accept a 2-0 defeat. Rainey went home defeated but not discouraged.
