RUGBY: Lewis Stevenson leaves Ulster for Exeter Chiefs

Ballynure man Lewis Stevenson is set to join Exeter Chiefs with immediate effect having been released from his contract with Ulster Rugby by mutual agreement.

The 31-year-old second row, a former pupil at Ballyclare High School, was under contract at the Kingspan Stadium until the end of the season but has made the move to England.

The Larne-born lock made 89 appearances in an Ulster shirt during a five-year spell, scored his one and only try for the province against Treviso this year.

“I am extremely proud to have played a part in this Ulster team over the last five seasons. Every time I pulled on the shirt it meant something to me. However, the time is right for me to face a new challenge and I am excited about being part of Exeter Chiefs again. I appreciate how Ulster has handled this and I wish them every success for the rest of the season,” he told ulsterrugby.com
