Swimmers show they love their sport at Valentine’s Gala
In total 23 gold, 24 silver and 16 bronze were win and virtually every swim over the threedays produced a medal and a significant personal best (PB).
The highlights and personal best over the three days were as follows:

Hide AdKate Allenby had a superb gala, knocking a whopping 40 seconds off her 100 fly (1.23.48) and 44 seconds off her 400 free (5.28.41) while Emma McElderry shaved 16 seconds off her 400 free (5.59.19).
Lauren Armstrong took 25 seconds off her 200 free (2.46.47); in addition to this she knocked 17 seconds off her 200 back (3.06.36) winning her a silver medal.
Hannah Beattie swam a PB of eight seconds in her 200 IM (2.57.94) and Charlotte Campbell shaved 24 seconds off her 400 free (5.56.80) and knocked 19 seconds of her 200 free (2.46.63).
Alex Donnelly took 17 seconds off his 400 free (5:13:07), winning him a silver medal. Not to be undone Alex’s brother Scott worked hard to knock 10 seconds off his 200 IM (2:36:73). Harry Farson also had a great 200 IM taking 28 seconds off (2.57.13).

Hide AdJulia Knox had a great gala, knocking a whopping 24 seconds off her 200 IM (3.05.56) and 26 seconds off her 200 breast (3.25.71), winning gold medals in both these. Julia also added a further two gold and two silver medals to the clubs medal haul.
Cameron McDonald swam a PB of four seconds of his 100 breast (1.12.73), winning him a silver medal.
Sophie Mount knocked 18 seconds off her 200 IM (3.13.94). Becky Pinkerton shaved 13 seconds off her 100 breast (1.44.64.), winning her a silver medal. Not to be out done Becky’s brother William knocked three seconds of his 100 breast (1.28.79), winning him a gold medal.
Ellie Purdy took a massive 34 seconds off her 400 IM (6.02.47) and 21 seconds off her 200 free (2.26.96).

Hide AdCaolan Quinn had an outstanding performance in his 1500m free shaving 97 seconds off, winning him a gold medal. His brother Eunan knocked a whopping 38 seconds off his 400 free (5.53.62).
Ellie Robinson took 15 seconds off her 400 free swim(5.22.27) while sister Poppy took a huge 25 seconds off her 200 fly (2.46.38). Graham Stevenson knocked 14 seconds off his 200 IM (2.27.48).
Caitlin Kearney swam well in all six events and won a bronze medal in 200 breast (3.59.67). Harry Dougan finished in the top 10 in his age group in 200IM, 200 Breast and 100 back.
Niall McDowell, who joined the club this season, achieved top 10 places in all his events. Anna Smith, who joined the club this month, had a great first gala and added two bronze medals to the haul in100 and 200 free. Another new swimmer this season, Michael Mitchell, also won 2 bronze medals over the weekend in his 50 fly and 100 free.

Hide AdPatrick McNiff won three bronze medals 100 breast, 200 breast and 100 free and the Galloway brothers, Lee and Nicky, significantly boosted the medal haul over the meet. Nicky won gold medals in every event he competed in.Lee won three gold medals in 200IM, 50fly and 100 fly and silver in the 50fly. Last but not least, Jenny Wilson competed in an incredible nine events and won eight medals, three gold, four silver and one bronze.
