Carrick Ladies Hockey Club 1st XI enjoyed a rare incursion into the heady world of double-digit scorelines on Saturday afternoon with a comprehensive 11-0 win over Lurgan in the second round of this season’s McConnell Shield competition.

With the team having gone all the way to last season’s Shield final where they eventually lost to Randalstown, there was an air of quiet determination amongst the Carrick players as they took to the Amphitheatre pitch.

Carrick may have found goals rather hard to come by in their current league campaign but all came good on Saturday with captain Christine Waide leading the charge on a personal haul of five goals and one each for Amy Cross, Lyndsey McClurg, Julie Oliver, Natasha McWilliams, Kerrie Erskine, and Caroline Creighton.
